On Oct. 18, 2024, NYS Senator Michelle Hinchey visited Coxsackie-Athens High School to present a Proclamation to Mary DiStefano, the District's Food Service Director, in honor of National School Lunch Week!
During her visit, Senator Hinchey emphasized her vision of connecting local farmers with school cafeterias to ensure students across NYS have access to fresh, healthy meals. She engaged with students from the Future Farmers of America club, observed the Bee Club’s honey and lip balm collection, and toured the hydroponic garden, greenhouse, and chicken coop, all maintained by the agriculture classes. Senator Hinchey fielded questions from students, enjoyed a coffee from Barista 254, a student-led coffee shop, and engaged with everyone who attended the event. #CA_RightHereRightNow

Oct. 10, 2024 was a beautiful day for a hike in Windham!
The Coxsackie-Athens CSDOutdoors Club hiked Windham high peak, a peak above 3,500 feet in the Windham-Blackhead wilderness. The club had a total of 26 students attend, and about half of them were first-timers! The group hiked a total of 6.4 miles and climbed 1,600 feet of elevation. Weather was breezy, clear skies and sunshine with an average temperature of 45 degrees, and the leaves were in magnificent peak color transition and were still mostly on the trees.
There were three major viewpoints showcasing the opposite side of the Windham-Blackhead mountain range, Big Hollow, and the Hudson River valley. The Outdoors Club, now in its seventh year, is advised by Mr. Pietrofesa and Ms. Watson.
