At its January 30, 2025 meeting, the Coxsackie-Athens CSD Board of Education appointed Amanda Klopott as the new principal of Coxsackie-Athens High School. Klopott, a proven transformational leader with a track record of improving student outcomes, will assume her new role in early March.
"Amanda impressed the interview teams with her ideas and her commitment to collaboration with staff, students, and families," C-A Superintendent Randy Squier said. "I look forward to Amanda bringing her experiences in turning around a school to C-A and helping us elevate student success even more."
Klopott joins Coxsackie-Athens with extensive experience in educational leadership. Most recently, she served as the principal of School 2 in North Central Troy, where she led the school out of receivership within two years. Under her leadership, student proficiency in English Language Arts increased by 88%, and math proficiency saw a 200% improvement. She also successfully reduced chronic absenteeism by 23% while strengthening community partnerships and implementing trauma-informed, culturally responsive practices.
Previously, Klopott served as an assistant principal in the Hudson City School District and as an English as a New Language (ENL) teacher in the North Colonie School District, where she developed an innovative model ENL program and established mentoring initiatives for future educators.
Klopott stated, “Through the hiring process, I've had the opportunity to learn about the strong foundation that's already in place at Coxsackie-Athens High School with innovative programs to help our students be successful in college and beyond, and a dedicated team that works hard to meet the needs of our students. I can't wait to get started supporting their work and growing our programming as we further engage our students and community."
Her leadership has been recognized through numerous awards, including the Esteves School of Education Advanced & Creative Thinking Award for Sustainable Community Partnerships and a $60,000 grant from the McCarthy Foundation to support student success initiatives.
With a strong background in community engagement, data-driven decision-making, and educational innovation, Klopott is poised to lead Coxsackie-Athens High School into its next chapter of inspiring learners toward their extraordinary success.
