Coxsackie-Athens Schools Appoint Junait Shah as Director of Innovation and Technology
Coxsackie, NY – Aug. 28, 2024 – Coxsackie-Athens Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Junait Shah as the new Director of Innovation and Technology, effective Aug. 19, 2024.
Shah brings a wealth of experience in educational leadership and a deep understanding of the transformative role of technology in education.
In his new role, Shah will be responsible for providing vision and leadership in the development, implementation, and management of the district’s Information Technology initiatives. He will work closely with both instructional and technical teams to identify and implement the procedures necessary to achieve the district’s long-term technology goals.
His responsibilities include directing and coordinating all tasks related to the district's technical infrastructure, ensuring that the technology needs of the school district are met. Additionally, he will oversee the creation, implementation, and enforcement of policies and educational programs addressing the social, legal, and ethical issues surrounding technology use.
Superintendent of Schools, Randy Squier, expressed his confidence in Shah’s ability to elevate instructional practices and lead the integration of digital tools that align with the district’s curriculum.
"We had a strong pool of candidates, and Mr. Shah impressed the interview team with his understanding of the role technology plays in modifying and redefining learning in classrooms," said Superintendent Squier. "We look forward to Junait taking the baton from Ms. Lindeman and continuing to lead our tech services department as they support our teachers in implementing our nationally recognized innovative practices."
Shah joins Coxsackie-Athens Schools after serving as Principal of Catskill High School since 2020. Prior to that, he was Assistant Principal at Catskill Middle School from 2017 to 2020, and a Spanish teacher from 2008 to 2017. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from SUNY at Oneonta, a Master of Science in Teaching from New York University, and a Certificate of Advanced Study from Stony Brook University.
As Director of Innovation and Technology, Shah will be instrumental in breaking down traditional silos between subjects, reflecting the interdisciplinary approach that is essential in today's educational environment. His leadership will play a crucial role in advancing the district’s vision of integrating technology in a way that enhances student performance and prepares them for the future.
